RAI has revealed the first eight finalists that will be competing in the final of Sanremo Giovani 2022.
After auditions were held yesterday for Sanremo Giovani 2022, the eight artists going through to the final on December 16 have been announced. The jury which watched auditions from 42 artists selected the following finalists:
A further four artists are set to be selected from Area Sanremo 2022, with twelve artists competing in Sanremo Giovani.
The top three artists in Sanremo Giovani will be invited to compete in Festival di Sanremo 2023 and have the chance to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Italy debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and has participated a total of 42 times to date. Italy returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 having last participated in the contest in 1997. Italy has won the contest three times, the first time being in 1964 and the most recent being in 2021. Italy’s hosting of the contest in 1991 has been remembered as one of the most chaotic contests to date. Since their return in 2011 Italy has finished in the top 10 on nine occasions.
