Until July 3, the great celebration of verses and décimas presents among its visual arts proposals the Decima Ilustrada, Paisaje y Artesania (Illustrated Decima, Landscape and Craftsmanship) exhibition that links this artistic expression with traditional culture.
The initiative includes 47 illustrated decimas, 41 landscapes and about 200 handicrafts that relate a diversity of styles, techniques and materials such as yarey, weaving to show “the beauty and authenticity of the Cuban countryside”.
The exhibition was the result of a contest in localities of the territory that awarded prizes in the categories of Landscape and Illustrated Tenth to the works Herrero, Pañuelo natural, AD INFINITUM, among others.
According to the organizers, there will be the traditional “combats” between repentistas and a theoretical event that in the current call highlights the Hispano-American dimension of the Cuban poet Jesus Orta Ruiz, Indio Nabori.
The intention of the contest, according to the directors, is to maintain the vitality of the cultural event to “offer the world the most sublime samples of art and culture in defense of the Cuban identity”.
Under Marti’s maxim ‘honrar honra’, the event will pay tribute to programs, entities and personalities who defend the genre on the island, especially to the so-called Cucalambé, Juan Cristobal Napoles Fajardo, on the 193rd anniversary of his birth.
